I want to protect my assets

Whether you’ve reached your apogee - or still have a few more goals to tick off - we’re here to help you reap the benefits of your hard work, and make plans for the future.

Protecting your assets and legacy can encompass a wide range of our services. It might be ensuring your Will reflects your current circumstances, reviewing your Family Trust, or assisting with the sale of your business.

Planning for the Future

What does your ideal future look like? We can help you reach your personal apogee. We start by getting to know your unique situation and goals. Then we’ll help you understand your options, and advise on what structures, reviews or documentation will help you get there.

  • Succession Planning is not just about handing over to the next generation - it’s also about ensuring the necessary processes & systems are in place to fully realise the value of your assets, as well as ensuring business continuity in the face of the unexpected. We can provide legal advice on a succession plan that ensures you receive the benefit of your hard work over the decades, and provides a great start for the next generation.

  • We can help you navigate the sales process, providing for agreements and contracts that realise the value of the hard work you’ve put in and position you for a smooth and stress free handover.

  • If you are lending money privately to adult children or other family members, we can document the agreements reached simply and clearly to avoid any misunderstandings in the future.

  • Trusts can have benefits for asset protection. However Trust Law has changed recently, so it’s important to ensure yours is still fit for purpose and being administered correctly. We can help review your personal situation and ensure your Family Trust remains up to date and compliant with the latest legislation.

Estate Planning

If you were to pass away or become medically incapacitated, how would you want your affairs and assets managed, and by who? These are difficult questions to address, but planning now will ensure you can provide for your loved ones in the way you wish to.

  • Your Will may need to change as your life does. Important times to consider a review include: family and relationship changes; if the executor or a significant beneficiary named in your Will passes away, or if your assets or debts increase significantly. You may also need to review whether your chosen Executor is still the right person to manage your affairs when you pass away.

  • Enduring Power of Attorney is a document where you name a trusted person (called an attorney) who will act on your behalf in the event you are no longer able to make decisions for yourself. If you’ve created one in the past, now is the time to review it to ensure the provisions within match your circumstances and are right for you.
